It's day 3 of our 2011 MM Favorites, and today I'm posting our favorite debs/stand-alones, as there were some great stand-alones released this year. Often times I think stand-alones get over shadowed by the bigger and newer series that are being release. Not that I don't love a good series, because I do, but I also adore stand-alones just as much. Here's our list of this year's top 11 favorite Debs/Stand-Alones. This list is no order and features books we rated 4.5-5 stars. Each book is linked back to our review on the blog.
- Between The Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
- Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
- Entwined by Heather Dixon
- The Apothecary by Maile Meloy
- Warped by Maurissa Guibord
- Moonglass by Jessi Kirby
- Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez
- Shifting by Bethany Wiggins
- Destined by Jessi Harrell
- Forgotten by Cat Patrick
- The False Princess by Eilis O'Neal
** Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris (just kidding, we had this one listed here, but found out after posting this that there is going to be a sequel).
If you haven't already, I highly recommend picking up these books. You can read our complete list of 2011 MM Favorites here. What are some of your favorite debs and stand-alones from this year?
YES! I am so happy to see Entwined on there because I adored it and it really hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Such a beautiful (and somewhat creepy) book! Near Witch was excellent as well, I was very impressed with Victoria's talent as a writer. I just got Bad Taste in Boys, so I'm happy to see that you liked it! But isn't it the first one in a series?

Thank you SO much for including DESTINED on your list. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI have so many on this list that I need to read but definitely agree w/ The Near Witch and Between Shades of Gray. Both amazing books!!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, I think I might be missing out!! I've only read Entwined... And I actually listed to that on Audiobook. But it was great, I loved the reader.
ReplyDeleteBrenna- I LOVED Entwined as well! I really think stand-alones don't get all the attention they deserve, which is why I wanted to feature them in their own post. Oh, and shoot, you might be right about BTinB. I need to go double check that. Thanks for pointing that out :)
ReplyDeleteJessie- you are so welcome!! (hugs back)
Cynthia- Those two books are AMAZING!!
Dawn- If you're looking for a good book to curl up with during the Christmas/holiday break, I highly recommend picking up one from this lst.
Oh how I am hoping that Shifting will turn into a series! I LOVED it!!!
ReplyDeleteMalissa- I was too, but I can't find anything out there that indicates it's going to be a series. I'm still hoping it will be.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of sad, there are very few books on this list that I've had the opportunity to read. Looks like I have a great list of recommendations to work off of for the future.
ReplyDeleteBetween Shades of Gray was my all time favourite this year!
